Ciao Milan. Bonjour Paris.
It’s been a whirlwind month thus far and Milan had it’s ups and downs. Raf Simons had a tearful goodbye at Jil Sander, while the labels namesake returned. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana gave us baroque, Sicilian style. We let ourselves get wrapped up in Gucci‘s “Dark Romance.” As things ramp up for Paris, take a look at which collections made our list.
- Accentuated shoulders, wide corset belts and dyed fur came together for a surreal look.
- Peekaboo slashes and structure gave life to Pucci’s modern woman.
- Gold bullion, cherubs and lace gave Dolce & Gabbana a softer edge this season.
- Bias and structure added new credence. But double-faced cashmere softened some of those edges.
- Pale pink, faint grey and toffee colored capes start a new day in a serene world, while red, navy, and shine against matte added a bit of chaos.
- Volume through structure gave Marni new height with kabuki shoes and strong geometric design.
- Who would’ve ever thought Macabre and the 60′s would make such a great combination. Sculpted paillettes and plenty of geometry rounded out the collection.
- Creating a menagerie of his own, Cavalli toyed with nature by printing tiger print on python and piecing fur to resemble croc scales.
- Donatella Versace created an ode to the medieval with chain mail, velvet and embroidered crucifixes.
- Applique velvet, brocade and chiffon gave a playfulness to Gucci’s dark heroine.
