The Makeup Show, mother of all makeups events went down in NYC this past weekend. 6,000 makeup artists, beauty bloggers, buyers, retailers and magazine editors converged upon the Metropolitan Pavilion for the seventh year of the two-day event to stock up, learn new techniques and rub elbows with the industry elite.
Top beauty brands such as NARS, Smashbox, MAC Cosmetics and Makeup Forever participated and were fully stocked for makeup artists to load their kits with the latest product. The Makeup Show showcased an additional 50 pro artist brands such as Temptu, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Crown Brush Company and crowd favorite, Inglot Cosmetics. Industry super beauty supply companies Naimie’s Beauty Center and Nigel’s Beauty Emporium were in attendance with inexpensive artists bags, disposable makeup tools and a variety of false lashes. Almost every brand was under one roof! And that’s not all.

The Makeup Show’s multi-faceted agenda addresses the need for a pro community where beauty professionals can network and sharpen their skills in several workshops hosted by top industry professionals. Metropolitan Events, Owner and Producer of The Makeup Show, fulfilled the task of supplying industry insiders with inspiration and optimism with keynote demonstrations on the secrets to success hosted by influential makeup artists, Troy Jensen, Kristopher Buckle and Francis Hathaway. Revered makeup artists A.J. Crimson, Kat Aragon, Danessa Myricks and legendary artist Ve Neill conducted keynotes, respectively, creating several standout moments. Make-Up Designory presented two full days of seminars packed with makeup artists who were anxious to discover how to achieve some of the most iconic and theatrical looks in television. A.J. Crimson – This influential makeup artist and Detroit Native has worked with recording artists Letoya Luckett and Estelle. His presence at The Makeup Show was well known. Ve Neill – This industry vet was the mastermind behind the creation of Mrs. Doubtfire, the key artist that conceptualized the image of Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Carribean and the characters of The Hunger Games. She also is a panel judge for the hit makeup artist competition show Face Off on the Sci-Fi Channel. Her resume is vast and her artistry speaks for itself.
